Kate Bellamy

Kate Bellamy is a PhD Candidate in the research project The Linguistic Past of Mesoamerica and the Andes, investigating modern and historical interaction in P’urhepecha, a language isolate spoken by around 125,000 people in Michoacán (Mexico). Her research interests include bilingualism (including bilingual education and code-switching), Georgian language and culture, language contact, the language of perception and numerical cognition. Holding a Research MA in Linguistics and a BA (Honours) in French and Italian, she has taught in the MA Linguistics and BA French Studies programmes.
